Instead, they It turns out this place isn't a bar. It's a guild. Some people are ordained for greatness. Those people usually have a lot of drama in their life. Drama I happily do without. I live in a forgotten corner of nowhere for a reason: there is safety in anonymity. I have enough problems just trying to get by. But when Kieran, a sinfully sexy demigod at the pinnacle of power, crashes into my life, suddenly my whole world is turned upside down.

He also wants me with a passion. Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career - a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile situation. Nevada isn't sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire. Then she's kidnapped by Connor "Mad" Rogan - a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers.
Book Series Review- Valerie Dearborn By Caroline Hanson
It was a dark and stormy knight, and nine dark defenders embarked upon a most perilous quest. They're the ultimate defenders of humanity, modern day knights who do dark deeds for all the right reasons. In this all-star collection, nine of today's hottest paranormal authors bring us thrilling, all-new stories of supernatural knights that are brimming with magic mystery and mayhem. When the road forks, how do you know which path is the right one? Raven Black hunts evildoers for fun, but her vigilante justice isn't the only reason she's hiding from the law.
Half vampire, half mage, she's spent years living as a rogue to stay alive. When a Russian shifter offers her a job in his covert organization hunting outlaws, dignity and a respectable career are finally within her grasp. My name is Jemma Blackburn, and I have a secret. I know vampires are real. I watched one murder my father eight months ago, and even though they tried to convince me it didn't happen - that I'd lost touch with reality due to the trauma, I know what I saw was real.
Hollow Hills is now the place I call home. It was supposed to be my chance at a normal life. My chance to bury my secret and start over. Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world. Double WTF.

Well, things just got a little more interesting. The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game. Are you reading this? If you are, I need your help. I was at a party; I was running; I fell. And get this - this is the part you'll never believe - I fell down a rabbit hole. Like Alice in those old books.
Except in those books, there wasn't blood everywhere. In those books, the characters weren't all male, attractive, and interested in me. When year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets.
Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she's been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she's received.
Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one client, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now. Betrayed by everyone she loves, Valerie Dearborn will do anything to get out of Fey and avoid becoming Cerdwellyn's queen. Even if it means she has to rely upon Lucas, the monster who betrayed her. Lucas felt nothing for hundreds of years, but Valerie's blood has changed everything.

As Valerie struggles to survive she must choose between reality and illusion, between sacrifice and love, all in hopes of figuring out the truth: that if you love someone you must be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. The Valerie Dearborn series books need to be read in order to understand, they are in no way stand alone books. I loved this book, the 2nd wasn't nearly as good but this one answers a lot of questions from the first 2.
With that all being said, books are definitely worth the credit and time to listen to them! I don't know the first book was little confusing, but I held on and got the second book the second book was knock your socks off good so I got the third book and the third book just seemed a little rushed. The characters stay true to form some of the villains weren't really villains and some of the innocents were really innocent so it had some twists and turns which are really great.
And the epilogue left some suggestions for maybe another book. But I don't know it just left me kind of empty like there could've been more there could've been more description and it didn't have to be so rushed in those last few chapters it's like she spent so long getting us hooked into the story and showing us this transformation of Lucas from villain to hero and the love and the yearning and the redemption and then all this buildup to nothing within a few pages maybe minutes total was the end how rushed is that?
Story seemed to drag on and on only to end abruptly leaving unanswered questions. Pretty disappointing. I really liked the first book and the second book was good but this book was a little bit all over the place I think she could have made a forth book in this series because it was like she tried to throw too much into this book But I liked the narrator of this book so much I would definitely listen to other books performed by her. For the first two books to be so good, this one was very drawn out and boring.
